Random employee drug tests are usually common in today’s workplace. In fact most employers require that every one of their employees be in agreement with random drug testing which could be conducted at anytime during their term of employment. This sort of drug testing practice claims to promote to drug free working environment but statistics show that the percentage of employees who use illegal drugs on the job are usually small. In fact studies also show that a large number of drugs consumed by employees during company time are consumed at company functions and gatherings. This makes random drug testing unfair, unjust, and in many cases hypocritical to some degree.

However routine random employee drug testing is considered, they’re still intrusive, often having a test subject closely observed by someone conducting the drug test. Just imagine visiting the bathroom and having a stranger stand over you while you use the facilities.

The general goal of random employee drug testing is to supposedly get rid of the usage of illegal drugs at work but in all fairness most employees avoid the use of drugs around the job but may consume drug during their off time. Although this will happen, it's usually rare that an employee may come into work intoxicated by drugs understanding such type of behavior may lead to dismissal. This is simply one good reason why employee drug tests should only be considered if there is a probable cause for suspicion of usage on the job.

Everyone is entitled to have a personal life outside of the workplace and as long as that lifestyle does not affect their job performance or possibly the safety of others on the job, that personal lifestyle should remain private.

There are actually frequent occasions where drugs are indirectly consumed unintentionally from being in the presence of others using them. One common drug which is certainly often used within social settings is marijuana. Often found in nightclubs, parties, in addition to other social gatherings, marijuana or THC can get into the body indirectly by second hand smoke released in the air around the immediate area being occupied. If enough second hand smoke is inhaled this could lead to a positive test result for THC although the test subject may have not even knew the trace elements where in their system. Of course this may not be accepted as an official excuse for marijuana being in an employee’s system nonetheless the truth remains that incidents like this can and quite often do happen.

The debate as to whether random employee drug testing is fair is one that can go on for a very long time despite the blatant disregard for individual privacy in addition to the existence of certain flaws in random drug testing procedures. On the job safety must always remain a principal concern for employers but not at the expense of humiliating good employees. This is why a lot of people have resorted to countermeasures for passing drug tests in order to keep their alternative lifestyles private especially with these uncertain times where securing and holding down a job has grown to be increasingly difficult due to a slow economy.

Passing random drug tests really aren't difficult at all plus the methods used will certainly work when done correctly.
